We took the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon & Garden Conservancy Open Day Tour of 5 private gardens today! What a treat. Synopsis from the HPSO website in the order we visited them.
Acheff Garden: From suburban fishbowl to peaceful garden retreat, the Acheff garden makes the transformation using screening plants, garden structures, a small water feature, wonderfully appealing foliage colors and textures, and container plantings.
Andora Gardens: Dividing to "grow" the landscape, the garden host/designer reconfigured a long, narrow backyard by adding a sunroom, outdoor pavilion and separate garden rooms. The terraced front yard features a four-season, New American-style garden which is expanded by joining the side gardens with the neighbor's.
Guinther Garden: Encompassing a decades-long transformation into a woodland setting, this garden offers a wide variety of evergreen trees and shrubs, garden art vignettes, splashing water, a distinctive bridge, and a rustic gazebo all contained in just under an acre. Bring your picnic lunch/snacks if you would like to take a break in the woodland meadow.
"Ma Sanctuaire": From front curb to back yard, this is a complete garden sanctuary. The cottage garden, shade garden, and the whimsical garden with its potting shed and tea-for-two table setting all feature blue cobalt accents that successfully tie them together.
Oakwood Gardens: Captivating old world charm, this garden offers expansive views along with a white garden, potager, cottage garden, koi, water lily and nature ponds, waterfall, sanctuary garden, reflecting pool and Amish wedding gazebo. The alpacas are a delightful bonus.
