A Garden with Heart

Yesterday we visited a "backyard" garden in Gladstone.  It was a garden full of love.  The gardeners gardened because they really wanted to.  To accommodate their live-in relatives, mainly of the 4 legged variety, they had made provisions to protect their plants and their relatives from direct confrontation.

Reminds me of a time long ago growing up with my grandfather.  He grew plants because he loved to.  I don't remember a time when he ever said I don't have time to weed, water, or clean them up.

Keep the cats from ....

The rocks keep the dog from digging or running through
the plants ... The basalt gravel helps drain the soil and in
the winter retains solar heat to keep the plants warmer ...

So wise ...
